In 2005, Peter and Shelagh Klein travelled to Northern Ethiopia. During this trip they were made aware of the lack of funding for education in many of the remote villages of Tigray. They discovered that in many places the Catholic Church is the only entity providing any assistance in this region. 

They asked the question:

“ How can we help? ”

Together with the Eparchy (Diocese) of Adigrat they formed Educate Ethiopia.
