Sebeyea is a sub district located northeastern zone of Tigray. The topography of the area is somewhat mountainous and arable land. As Sebeya is situated amidst mountains the land is highly eroded with deep gullies here and there. It is just on the borderline between Ethiopia and Eritrea. The people earn their living through farming, masonry and daily laboring. The area is affected by recurrent drought.
The Catholic Church is the pioneer in opening a school in this area. The school has contributed a lot to the community by giving formal education according to the curriculum and policy of education of the country. Moral education is also given at all grades in all parish schools with the vision: "to establish the kingdom of God through promoting integral human development, focusing on the development of person in general body- soul."
The community appreciates the way the school educates the young with academic subjects and above all its commitment and follow up to foster the spiritual and moral values of Catholic Church. The basic ideas of Christian ethics are taught and reflected in the day-to-day activities of the school. The school has been teaching and serving to promote peace, justice and love, in the community.
The only means people could sustain their lives is through education. People educate their kids and the kids again help their parents by remitting some money from their salaries.
Among the problems the school is currently facing is lack of potable water.
